All people have two distinct minds – the conscious and the subconscious. The subconscious mind is vastly larger and more powerful than the conscious mind, yet it is the least used and most misunderstood. The subconscious mind receives and retains all the information we have ever seen, heard or experienced in our lives. It also controls all of our bodily functions and automatic behaviors and habits. The conscious mind controls analytical thinking, self-talk and willpower. However, the subconscious is much stronger and more vast as the storehouse of all our beliefs and perceptions. It decides what choices and thoughts our conscious mind has to choose from. This means that when willpower conflicts with ingrained subconscious beliefs, it will lose. This is the reason so many fail at their goals and find creating new patterns seemingly impossible, feeling they lack will power and self-control. They are essentially utilizing the wrong part of their mind. Hypnosis works with the correct part of your mind; the subconscious, as it controls everything.
